تُستخدم سدادات الزيت في محركات السيارات والمحركات ذات التروس، وهي مصممة أساسًا لمنع تسرب الزيت من طرف العمود الدوار، أو دخول الغبار من الهواء الخارجي.

تقوم سدادات الزيت بمنع تسرب ليس فقط مواد التشحيم، بل أيضًا الماء والمواد الكيميائية والغاز من “الفجوات” الموجودة في الآلات. كما تعمل سدادات الزيت على منع دخول الغبار والتربة والرمل من الهواء الخارجي.
